Jenny 2.0 Housing & Living Expenses

Donation protected
The cost of a double lung transplant is somewhere in the neighborhood of a million dollars, ranking it as the #4 most expensive medical procedure. Thankfully, Jenny is covered under a couple different insurance plans (which was a prerequisite for being eligible for the procedure) and most of these costs will be covered. However, there are expenses that come up during this process that are not billable to insurance. One of those big tickets being Transplant Housing. Once Jenny is released from the hospital, she and Jeff must reside here for 1-3 months, with the length depending on how she progresses. The main reason being in case Jenny begins to reject the lungs... She is minutes from the hospital for medical intervention. This costs about $2,000/month and the unit has been secured, accruing rental costs as of today. Jeff will stay here until she is released. Up until today, he has been staying in the ICU waiting room, day in and day out. While the facility is as nice as they come, I am thrilled to know that he will be sleeping in an actual bed with some privacy!

If we exceed our goal or Jenny only needs to be in Transplant Housing for a month (fingers crossed) then any excess funds will go towards Jeff and Jenny's daily & monthly living expenses. Jeff has not and will not leave Jenny's side and has taken FMLA to ensure that he keeps his job during this life-changing event but he has to go without pay. He would never ask a soul for help but I know that they need it more now than ever as they are also right in the middle of building a house; a dream of theirs for many years. Jenny had decided to not put it off any longer as the wait for lungs grew longer and longer. This is an expensive process that has sucked their reserves dry. And, as we all know, daily expenses and monthly bills don't go away because you are unable to work.

So, in lieu of cards or flowers, please consider donating to help offset the financial burdens that have already began to rear their ugly heads.
