Help Shiva to beat MS with HSCT

Hello, My Name is Shiva Mehta. I am 38 Years old. I am suffering from Secondary Progressive MS. I was diagnosed in 2004. MS is a cruel disease and it snatched my life away slowly and frustratingly .

I worked in London as a television Editor for Virgin, BBC and The Discovery Channel and many more Independent and fun projects. I got married in 2009 and in 2011 we had our little angel Tianna. By 2012 I found my MS  getting worse so we moved back to Liverpool and started living with my parents. Not being able to play in the park or do any fun activities as my mobility got worse, I started using mobility scooter. It was heart breaking and frustrating not being able to take part in any activity with my daughter.

Moving back to Liverpool and not being able to get any jobs in the media I decided to take a career change and spend 2 years doing a PGCE. After completing my PGCE  it was unbelievable to discover how atrocious and discriminating  education are regarding lack of facilities for disabled people.  On being truthful and ticking the disability box on job applications didn't get me many interviews. After demanding  an interview in one of Liverpool's leading Media Academies; quite appalled that I couldn't go through the main entrance as there was no disability ramp and had to enter through the goods entrance.  After being told that I had impressed the tutor who was interviewing me, I was then told that  "Our lessons take place on the first floor and we haven't got a lift .........… but you wont have a problem taking your scooter upstairs will you?" Open mouthed I could'nt quite comprehend the tutors lack of common sense, but was told he'd get back to me.

After not having heard back from the academy and trying to stay positive, from working in an incredibly fast paced Media Industry  to having to slow down and change direction going in to the teaching industry, still played heavily on my mind, and I ended up in hospital after falling backwards off my scooter  and was misdiagnosed as having a mini stroke when it was infact a relapse of my MS.

I was refused HSCT treatment in UK because of the strict criteria and discovered HSCT in Mexico. Having nothing to loose I applied to get on the list and was lucky enough to get a cancelation place. I was still in hospital in Liverpool & Friends and Family thought I had gone crazy, but still lent us the money that was needed.

I have successfully completed my HSCT Treatment and am slowly seeing improvements. Physio and the remaining booster shots that complete this treatment back in the UK will take just over a year.

Thank You so much for reading my story and I would be forever grateful if you could donate as much as you can, every penny counts.
Can you please donate as much as you can so that my daddy can play with me xxxxxx
