Genius: A Baby Academy is the Only All-In-One World Language Class, Art Class, Sign Language Class, Gym class, and Sensory Exploration Center. Tailored for the 3-month-4 year set and now Essential Parenting Workshops!
Summer is a hard time for school to stay open and make it through to another Fall. We need your help funding our SCHOLARSHIP program which goes directly to TEACHER PAY, keeping us alive!
RECEIVE a thank you email from our Director, MP3s (or CD) of the Director's family CD, "Whip It Out: Songs for Breastfeeding", A piece of artwork by our children sent directly to you, early access to our upcoming Fall online workshop offerings or even an original song written and recorded for you, your baby or your loved one!
At Genius: A Baby Academy, our MISSION for each child begins at birth and the newborn stage- that each child/family is well supported with parenting workshops before baby, help with feeding, sleeping and building parent confidence.
Then, we provide each growing baby endless early opportunities for learning, fun, SOCIALIZATION, LANGUAGES and cultural exposure. Each preschooler is supported in learning INDEPENDENCE, INTERDEPENDENCE, cooperation and understanding of one another. Each caregiver is supported in providing attachment to make learning safe and secure for the child and each caregiver takes home valuable ideas for engaging the child beyond our doors.
Through our world-learning education, I imagined each child as going off into the world to become a powerful peacemaker.
One year now from our opening we have something I am really proud of which is bigger in scope than I imagined! It isn't just my dream anymore, we have dedicated educators and dedicated families making the program their own.
Our new dream is that Genius become a space that the community of kids, teachers and parents really feels belongs to them. That's where you come in. Recently more people have found out about our scholarship program and we have met every request, even without funding for the scholarship program. It is becoming more of a challenge to meet that need.
Our vision is that the greater community and our extended networks fund our scholarship program for babies, toddlers, preschool as well as spots in parenting workshops.
One of our main goals is to promote understanding of one another as CITIZENS OF THE WORLD. Without a scholarship program, we are less diverse by class, race, ethnicity and family orientation.
Without a scholarship program, we are only serving families who can afford to prioritize early education and the cycle institutionalized racism and classism and of familial lack of education continues. I never imagined Genius without a scholarship program and I wouldn't want to carry on without one.

Where Does the Money Go?
Our full-pay tuition covers rent, insurance, utilities, and doesn't quite teacher salaries. We need extra funding to cover supplies and to pay for our scholarship program which has been coming out of the owner/director's pocket- she also doesn't get paid :) nor can we afford administration.
Our families are thriving, but we need some extra community support to keep things going. The profit margin for small schools is pretty nonexistant especially when they are paying for their own scholarship program.
As we grow and become more well-known in the community we will become more full of full-paying clientele that will be able to offset our scholarship program- but we aren't there yet. And Summer is a bit slower than our other quarters.
We have 10 baby class scholarships at $13,000/year.
We have two half-scholarship spots available each quarter for families who want to stay in our program but have had a dip in income. Those are worth a total of $324/quarter and $1243/year
We have one preschool scholarship worth $3689/ year.
We would like to be able to offer scholarship spaces in our parenting workshops. One scholarship position in 6 workshops/month would total $2550/year
Yearly supply, literature and art costs to accomondate a full school /full scholarship program, $6000
We hope this money will allow us to add even more scholarship spots!
Where does the money wind up? Our teachers and workshop leaders are paid a living wage and your donation keeps open as the scholarship money keeps the teachers paid! :)
