Cristina Alfonso-Zea is a 30 year old U.S. Army Veteran residing in Las Vegas, NV. She is the founder of BlissfulVets.org and is a Veteran advocate fighting for the right of Veterans to be able to use medical cannabis to improve their health and way of life.
Cristina has dedicated her life to helping Veterans since getting her own life back together after an addiction to prescription drugs while in the military. After separating from the Army, things took a turn for the worse. After suffering from PTSD and her 4th failed suicide attempt, she found cannabis and her life dramatically improved.
Since then, she tirelessly strives to spread the word about the benefits of Cannabis in Veterans with PTSD and various other ailments.
Unfortunately this GofundMe campaign is not about the great things that Cristina is doing for herself and for her community. It saddens me to share with you all that Cristina was viciously attacked in the parking lot of the gated community she calls home. The incident happened on the morning of Saturday June 25, 2016 at approximately 1:00 am.
She was beaten to near-consciousness by several individuals who attacked her from behind in the parking lot as she retreived her bag from her car. No more than 25 yards from her front door, they proceeded to beat her about the face and neck until she gave them her wallet , cash and cell phone. As if all that wasn't enough, the took the time to carve the words "wetback" and "bitch on her car.
She was taken to the VA Emergency Room on Saturday where she was diagnosed with a concussion due to a contusion (or two) she suffered during the attack. After a Cat Scan, the VA doctors released her with a thumbs up and a bottle of pills in her back pocket.
On Sunday morning, Cristina was rushed back to the ER because she woke up throwing up with pain and extreme vertigo. Of course, those wonderful VA doctors diagnosed her with a contusion and sent her on her way again. This time with 3 bottles of pills.
There are many things wrong here and I'm sure that I am not the only one who feels this way.

As you can imagine, Cristina does not want to continue living in the place her and her two Service Dogs called home. Would you? No one deserves to be beaten like that over a cell phone and $140. Such senseless actions from soulless individuals have become way too common in our community. Situations like this are when the Good Guys have an opportunity to step up to the plate and help a fallen veteran.
We are humbly asking for you help in getting Cristina the real healing she needs. We are hoping to raise $6000 usd for her to get out of her current lease, find her a new home that offers a safer environment for her to heal.
It would mean the world to Cristina, myself and all the other wonderful individuals that are supporting her if you could help. Even a dollar counts.
