Hann Family

Christine Hann, beautiful wife, amazing mother, and the best sister, daughter and friend, recently celebrated her last birthday (she may just make to it 31 1/2). She has been lucky enough to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary and has three beautiful children - Kyan (8), Xanthe (6) and Bo (17 months).
But her picture perfect dream life came to a crashing halt early this year. Christine and her family were living in Mt Isa where she had been to her GP a few times regarding a persistent and pesky pain in her armpit. This continued for a few months so she opted to fly down to Brisbane (where they used to live) to follow up with a specialist. What started as a pesky pain had been misdiagnosed and a blur of events would follow.
After a biopsy the disbelieving doctors fired statements at Christine – ‘you’re too young, fit and healthy, this is outside of the norm’. But that didn’t change the fact that on April 14 they told her ‘you have cancer’. A week later she would breastfeed her baby for the last time before having a double mastectomy. Unfortunately the procedure didn't go to plan due to the advancement of the cancer - Christine had 33 lymph nodes which had been overtaken by the disease.
The family needed an action plan and decided to relocate to Brisbane for treatment. In her own words Christine says the ‘chemo has been horrible’ and she has been hospitalised many times due to side effects. Unfortunately when she went into hospital last week due to headaches, she found out she may not be able to leave. The severe and debilitating headaches she was having were worrying, though scans and a biopsy had come back clear. But then while having a blood patch last Wednesday she had a seizure and ended up in ICU. A lumber puncture would reveal the life changing news that Christine had untreatable cancer of the brain. The rare type of cancer can only be diagnosed with a lumbar puncture, which is why it wasn’t picked up in the scans and biopsies, and it effects the lining and smaller cells of the brain.
So how on earth do you fit a whole lifetime of living and checking off bucket list goals in a few weeks? How do we help Christine create treasured last memories with her kids? Her family is frantically planning to make her last few weeks as amazing as they possibly can for Christine. She is so kind and beautiful and truly deserves to spend her last weeks happy with her family and friends.
Please share her story to raise awareness that this horrible disease can affect anyone, even a 31-year-old, kind-hearted mother and nurse. Please also share this link https://www.gofundme.com/25d5hpvm to her GoFundMe page. There is so much her family and friends want to share with Christine over the next few weeks and you can help to make that happen. But perhaps more importantly, her husband and her three gorgeous children will need ongoing support as they learn to live without their mother and wife. Please help today as there is so little time left with her.
