Launch a Non-Profit Ministry for Africa

Donation protected
UPDATE: The Shepherd Fund is moving forward thanks to the donations already received. We have incorporated as a non-profit in Illinois and filed with the IRS for 501(c)3 charity status. We are reviewing the first draft of a Memorandum of Understanding from Carlile College with plans to travel to Nairobi and finalize the agreement in October. Every gift helps us get closer to our goals! You can read the original appeal below...

My name is Tim Kurth and I've been going to Kenya since 1999. I'm launching a non-profit to help Carlile College reach eleven African nations with the Gospel of Jesus. I have built relationships in Kenya with many dear friends who are helping change lives in Nairobi and around the country. We have worked with orphans, blind children and students training to be missionaries. Now my friends at Carlile College in Nairobi have asked me to help them raise support in the United States. Carlile College is currently training students from eleven African nations who will go back to their cities, towns and villages to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My hope is that they will also learn sustainable business models and entrepreneurship to lift their villages out of poverty.

To make this happen I am launching The Shepherd Fund as a non-profit organization partnering with projects in the U.S. that are developing cutting edge aquaculture and hydroponic technology that can be used in the harshest conditions. I'm networking with African Leadership Development and other emerging non-profits pursuing a variety of other projects on the Continent of Africa.

Creating a non-profit provides the best vehicle to help Carlile College accomplish their goal of having a U.S. based partner that can raise substantial support. The Shepherd Fund will be dedicated to seeing the love of Jesus shared in tangible ways that lift people out of poverty, engender sustainable, indigenous businesses, set people in many African nations on a path of self-sufficiency and reverse the decades long trend of benevolent oppression that has been wrought by the misguided charity of wealthy Western nations.

In one location The Shepherd Fund will have access and influence on students from Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Ethiopia and other nations. This allows us to multiply our impact without the cost of going to each of these countries individually.

My goal of $10,000 will provide the necessary funds to secure IRS 501(c)3 charitable organization status, design and launch a website, spread the word about our work to churches across the United States, pursue grants, build a donor base and begin developing the infrastructure on a rural property owned by Carlile College where food will be raised and aquaponic and hydroponic farming techniques will be taught. Your donation will play a role in transforming the face of Africa and changing the lives of millions of people.

On March 13, 2013 The Shepherd Fund filed incorporation papers with the State of Illinois. This is the first step to launching this new ministry. So we're officially underway!

Thanks in advance for contributing to this cause and watch for the Shepherd Fund website...www.ShepherdFund.org...coming soon.
