Update - still wrangling with the Mon Co. Health Dept. They refuse to listen to reason, so we're getting ready to take the next step. Just got my first attorney bill, and it's - well, let's just say it's "substantial"...
So any help will still be greatly appreciated! Thanks for helping me stand up for common sense against a mindless bureaucracy!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and donations thus far. The more I think about it, the more I can't believe that this is even an issue. The ignorance of some people never ceases to astound me...

I am the owner of Volcano Electronic Cigarettes in Morgantown, WV.  We offer a great alternative to smoking cigarettes, which allow the user to enjoy nicotine and the action of smoking, without the smoke, ash, tar and carcinogens of actual cigarettes.

Recently, the Monongalia County Board of Health passed an indoor smoking ban for all of Mon County.  I was told recently that the smoking ban would apply to my store.  This will severely hamper my business, as my customers need to be able to try out our products before they make a purchase, and be able to sample the 34 different flavors that we offer to decide which ones they like.

The new county ordinance, however, does NOT specify electronic cigarettes, just "smoking".  Our products do not produce smoke, just water vapor.  The vapor is odorless and disappears in moments.  They do not harm anyone, and do not offend bystanders in any way.  The Mon County Board of Health has just arbitrarily decided that our NON-SMOKING products fall under their ban.  Of course, I wholeheartedly disagree.

I have retained an attorney to represent me against the Board of Health.  I have a feeling they are going to dig their heels to fight this, and I anticipate racking up some hefty legal bills.  I am appealing to you good people to chip in and help me out a little if you would like to help me "fight the man".  All I want is to be left alone and allowed to run my business and bring my life-saving products to the good people of Morgantown and surrounding areas.

Thank you in advance if you're able to help out in any way!

Wow that's crazy. I hope you can keep your business open. They always go after us little people here!

I can't believe they would single out your store, a place where there is absolutely no smoke, and ignore the Hookah place down the street. Look up X-Hale on FB and check out their photos. You can't even see your hand in front of your face due to the smoke. As a lifetime non-smoker, I find nothing, absolutely nothing, offending about the Volcano E-Cigs.

I saw that ban, and it applies to using my Volcano in my office. What about the hookah place? Are they not allowed to 'smoke' in there either?

The ban is ridiculous. I bet when you present the actual product before the board they'll wake up. If not, someone's probably "bought" the board...

First time I have ever donated to anything in my life. You can't compare vaping to smoking. That would be like banning Mountain Dew in public because it shares the use of carbonation with products like beer. The Board of Health should have to call new hearings before any universal action is taken on the use of personal vaporizers in businesses that wish to allow it.

Fight the good fight Shawn! We need to get an elected official of some sort to start vaping and help change the minds of the ignorant! Maybe we should send Obama an Inferno kit!! He's probably 'closet smoking' as we speak! We wish you the best of luck and keep us posted!
