THE HULK CHALLENGE – EL RETO HULK 2017
2017 marks the 3rd Hulk Challenge in Pampatar, Margarita Island. The community association ComanBo and the Pedro Caraballo Track Club have joined forces for 13 years organizing a race for kids in the town of Pampatar. The race seeks to identify talent, incentivize our community’s youth to participate in track and create a healthy, positive and fun activity to celebrate our youth.
Este año se lleva a cabo el 3er Reto Hulk in Pampatar, Isla de Margarita. La Carrera Infantil Pampatar, es una actividad deportiva organizada por el la Asociación Civil ComanBo y El Club de Atletismo Pedro Caraballo desde hace 13 años con el objetivo de captar talentos, incentivarlos en la disciplina del atletismo y lograr la masificación del deporte en nuestro estado Nueva Esparta.
In prior years, we have been able to get national sports champions to participate, creating a highly-motivational and exciting event. In 2015, the kids race was coined “The Hulk Challenge”. Each child receives a medal for participating and awards are given to the first three finishers in each category, as well as prizes for all participants.
En ediciones anteriores, hemos tenido el placer de contar con la participación de atletas Campeones Nacionales, quienes han enaltecido en varias oportunidades el nombre del estado. Desde el año 2015 la actividad también es conocida como “RETO HULK”. A cada niño se le entregará medalla de participación y obsequios a los tres primeros lugares por cada categoría, al igual que premios para los participantes.
The 2017 Hulk Challenge will be held on July 22, 2017 at 3:30PM in the José del Carmen Rosa Acosta Square at the heart of Pampatar.
El evento se realizará en la Plaza José del Carmen Rosa Acosta de Pampatar el día Sábado, 22 de julio de 2017 a partir de las 3:30 P.M.

ComanBo and the Pedro Caraballo Track Club have teamed up for 13 years to create a healthy and joyful event that brings the community together and sparks kids interest in track and running. The Hulk Challenge introduces kids to the opportunity to compete and excel at sport, while at the same time giving them each individually the opportunity to feel like winners.
ComanBo y El Club de Atletismo Pedro Caraballo han organizado a lo largo de 13 años este evento alegre y sano que une la comunidad y estimula el interés de los niños y jóvenes en participar en el atletismo y el deporte. El Reto Hulk les presenta la oportunidad de competir y lograr éxito en el deporte, y a nivel individual de sentirse como ganadores.
This year, the economic crisis on the island is making it more and more difficult for local sponsors to provide support through donations to fund the Hulk Challenge. At the same time, the children have become the most-affected by the social, economic and political crisis impacting our country, making it even more important to us to guarantee that this year, they will have their Hulk Challenge.
We teach our children to go beyond their circumstances and reach for their goals. We teach by example today by seeking funding outside of our community to help us host this event so we can continue to impact our youth in a positive way.
Este año, la crisis económica en la Isla hace cada vez más difícil para los patrocinantes locales colaborar a través de donaciones para financiar el Reto Hulk. A la vez, los mismos niños son los más afectados por la crisis económica, social y política que atraviesa nuestro país, haciendo aún más importante garantizar que este año tendrán su Reto Hulk.
Enseñamos a los niños a superar sus circunstancias para lograr sus metas. Hoy les damos el ejemplo, buscando financiamiento más allá de nuestra comunidad para apoyarnos a hacer este evento, y de esa manera impactar de manera positiva en nuestra juventud.
Who Participates?– ¿Quiénes participan?
The race is for boys and girls ages 4 to 17. This year, 300 kids are expected to participate. Categories are divided into 7 age groups:
La carrera está dirigida a niños de 4 a 17 años de edad (masculino y femenino), esperando una participación de 300 niños:
1. “Mini Runner” (4-5 years) – “Mini Atletismo” – 80 meters
2. “Half-pint” (6-7 years) – “Semillita” – 140 meters
3. “Youngsters” (8-9 years) – “Compotica” – 200 meters
4. “Pre-Teen A” (10-11 years) – “Pre-Infantil A” – 600 meters
5. “Pre-Teen B” (12-13 years) – “Pre-Infantil B” – 1 km
6. “Teen” (14-15) – Infantil – 2km
7. “Young Adult” (16-17 years) – Menor – 5km

Race costs are estimated as follows:

Total race cost $840 – costo total de la carrera
-Medals and trophies $150 – medallas y trofeos
-Equipment Rentals (stage, finish line, tents, etc) $150 – alquiler de equipos (tarima, llegada, toldos, etc)
-Prizes for participants $300 – Premios para los participantes
-Refreshments (watermelon, bananas, mandarins) $80 – Refrigerio y nutrición (patilla, cambur, mandarinas)
-Hydration $80 – Hidratación
-Racing bibs $80 – Dorsales para la carrera
Local fundraising efforts have helped us raise over $100 in our local community.
Now, we also ask you to help us make a difference so that in 2017, the Hulk Challenge continues make a powerful impact in the lives of our children.

Funds are used to cover the costs of holding the race. Each year, any funds remaining are used to hold summer camp activities for children in our community.

The ComanBo foundation organizes the Race of the Holy Christ of the Good Journey (Cristo del Buen Viaje), Kids Race/Hulk Challenge, Community Summer Camp for local children, Tour of the Island for the elderly, community cinema, and other community events and activities carried out throughout the year.
ComanBo es una fundación sin fines de lucros que se encarga de realizar eventos culturales, sociales y deportivos dedicados a niños jóvenes y adultos. La Fundación ComanBo se encarga de organizar la carrera del Cristo del Buen Viaje, Carrera de los Niños (Reto Hulk), plan vacacional dirigido a los niños de la comunidad, paseo para adultos mayor, cines comunitarios, eventos comunitarios y otras actividades que se programen durante el año.

The Pedro Caraballo Track Club in Pampatar is a track school and athletic foundation dedicated to teaching track and running to children, youth and adults to prepare them to compete in municipal, state and national competitions.
La escuela de atletismo Pedro Caraballo de Pampatar es una fundación deportiva que se encarga de mostrarle el atletismo a niños jóvenes y adultos con el fin de prepararlos para las competencias municipales, estadales y nacionales.
