My name is Awilda Morales and my family lost EVERYTHING we owned on Jan 23 2013, just weeks after Christmas.
I am 41 years old and a single mother of two children Sammy (17) and Kiara (12). While the Kids were at school, the house caught on fire because of a neighbor smoking on there back porch. After grabbing my dog, I started ringing my neighbors doorbells to help alert them to all get out safely. By the time everyone was out, the entire house with all our belongings was ablaze.
I know I can not get back the things that are most dear to me, family albums of my children growing up, but I am hoping to replace the material things we lost to get us back on our feet.
My son Sammy (a Jr in Highschool) receives a ride to school everyday from a fellow student who will graduate this spring. Since i am unable to give him a ride to school, he was saving for months ( close to $700 in his dresser ) for a car which he lost in the fire. He lost all of his clothes that were not on his back, Xbox 360, Laptop , Bed, Dressers and more.
My daughter Kiara is very independent, with her Christmas money she brought herself a brand new Ipod touch, and a Wii video game system that was not even a month old before the fire destroyed it. She as well as my son lost a laptop, all her clothes, and all her bedroom furniture.
Both of my children are honor students, Kiara is a cheerleader and Sammy is being recruited by schools like Northeastern, Holy Cross, Boston University, Robert & Morris, Quinnipiac, Townson and many others for a full athletic scholarship in basketball.
I am Hoping through the generosity of viewers like you and others, I can find a new home for my family as we are currently living in a small apartment with my mother.
Thank you and God Bless

cushing academy basketball team collected 415 dollars to go to this fund from the people that came to their game. Wanted to let everyone know how appreciative we all are and we know Sammy's family is so thankful also.
