Send Ben to DC

Donation protected

Benjamin was nominted by one of his teachers to go to Washington DC, to take part in the Junior National Young Leaders Conference. Anybody who knows Ben, knows that someday he will be a laywer or politition! This conference is a huge opportunity for him to see our Nation's leaders in action, and to learn about being a leader. Someday Ben could be in Washington, implementing the changes this country needs!!

If you would like to learn more, you can visit JrNYLC at http://www.cylc.org/jrnylc/JrNYLC_sites.cfm ; Thank you!!

***great explination of the program that I found on someone else's post and "borrowed" :) (Thank You)

JrNYLC curriculum uniquely explores the academic study of leadership through the lens of American history with distinctive field studies that bring these concepts to life. Throughout the Conference, hands-on exercises introduce fundamental aspects of leadership including character, communication, teamwork, problem solving, goal setting and respect. Students focus on their leadership delegation's assigned topic, utilizing site explorations as leadership case studies. Additionally, students attend workshops on different social advocacy topics and in turn, form action plans to implement newly cultivated leadership skills at home, in their schools and in their communities. Teamwork skills are developed as leadership delegations work to prepare the culminating Youth Leadership Projects. The continuing relevance of leadership is revealed through the study of various historical time periods. Using our nation's capital as the classroom, students are inspired and motivated to fulfill their own leadership potential.

JrNYLC accepts outstanding middle school students who demonstrate maturity, academic excellence and leadership potential. Students are selected to attend JrNYLC by teachers and mentors within their community.

Being able to attend this conference would open up many doors for Ben that we would not be able to open on our own. Donations as small as $5 are just as appreciated as larger donations
