Kranky Cycles is a small bicycle shop in the town of Highlands, New Jersey. In the summer of 2011, we opened our doors and were very pleased to be accepted by this tightly knit historical little fishing village. Fixing, renting and selling bikes has been a labor of love, and satisfying way to earn a living, so when parents and other shop owners told us that we are helping the town grow toward the community it once was, we were more than thrilled. Community is very important to us and we have several projects in our five year plan. Youth and Adult cycling clubs, volunteer mechanical support for the Twin Lights Ride, an annual cycling event held by Highlands and Bike New York, as well as a family friendly cycling track. These are a few things we hope to help bring to our town.

Then came Sandy. As you probably know, Highlands was hit pretty hard by the storm. Kranky Cycles was hit with six feet of ocean surge, the walls held together, but the contents of our humble bike shop did not fare so well. We lost our tools, parts and equipment, as well as bikes.
Our goal is to get Kranky Cycles up and krankin!

Unfortunately, because we are such a young business, we do not qualify for Federal assistance or SBA loans.
So we turn to you, the community at large, to look for help in rebuilding the dream of a little bike shop, that kids can hang out, get their bikes fixed or just pump up those tires.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and warmly remembered.
    Thank You for your support.

In the Garden and Kranky Cycles: I have a group of people in Needham MA that are looking for the opportunity to come to Highlands and help restore a home or small business. They can clean, demolish, install sheetrock, paint, etc. Let me know if you can use their help.
