On October 8th, 2011 I was run over by a freight truck while cycling. I have been an athlete most of my life, and in the blink of an eye my life was changed forever. Over a year later my body is full of scars, but I am alive and because of the love and generosity of my friends, family, and the healing power of God I am here. My pelvis was snapped into two pieces, and my hips pulled through my body, my leg was badly degloved, along with my stomach, and lower back. On February 24th, I will run a half marathon with friends and my dear husband. I will run slowly, but consistent in belief that like all trauma it takes a fighting warrior to survive.

If anyone wants to make any final contributions to Rowan, please do. I am closing the account Sunday for her mother. Here is her recent post about Rowans status: Week 12 of chemotherapy begins today. Rowan is fighting hard and fighting well. Spring is around the corner now, and although we still have a little ways to go.. it is starting to feel like there is light at the end of this tunnel; that this journey through cancer will come to an end. Please keep your prayers and thoughts and wishes flowing towards Rowan and her family.
