Thank you everyone that helped Union Beach Memories with our project. We have rescued more than 20,000 photos. We have reunited more than 1000 photos. We have scanned and cleaned 10,000. May you all have a wonderful hopeful New Year!

Thank you everyone that contributed to Restoring Union Beach Memories. We have reached the initial goal. I feel very blessed that people believe in this project as much as I do. Some photos are just scattered around Union Beach and others are covered by sand and other debris. I am always thankful when I can recover yet another memory. Bless you all!

I cannot begin to express the gratitude that I have for the individuals and companies that have contributed to Restoring Union Beach Memories. On Oct 30, 2012 when I picked up that first photo and Allie picked up a photo I could never image that we would have over 5000 photos to return to families. We continue to find photos daily. Finding the families is difficult when they are scattered all over the state. The Facebook page is helping but we really need to reach out to our neighbors and friends to spread the word. Please help us find the pictures their home.

My name is Jeannette Van Houten. I have been a resident of Union Beach, NJ for the past 42 years. On October 29, 2012 Sandy the Superstorm devastated my small town. When we woke on October 30, 2012 our lives had changed forever. Many families lost their homes and possessions. I made it my mission to give my friends and family something extremely special to each and every one, I want to return their photos that have been found. I have been cleaning, drying, scanning the photos that I have found and now moving forward to the photos that others turned in. I would like to do 3 things - 1 purchase battery operated scanners so I can have multiple people scanning photos at the same time, purchase external storage to back up the scans so professional restorers can work on the damaged photos and the third is purchase gift cards to so families can reprint some of the precious photos.
