1984 Printing Fire Recovery Fund

Early on March 21st a fire struck the warehouse that has been home to our 11-year old woman-owned business, 1984 Printing. The fire  began in an adjoining warehouse where it claimed two lives, and quickly spread out to our building. We are so grateful to have survived the blaze, thanks to the amazing concrete ceilings in our space.

We suffered severe smoke and water damage to paper stock, books, zines, and other printing projects, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars in losses. We're still assessing the damages, but thankfully, 1984's most expensive and loved 4-color press was not directly under where the water rained in, so hopefully once all the flooding is completely dried, it will power on and print again.

Our business relies on a lot of fragile and expensive things like paper and machines, but most of all it relies on a huge community of people who care about making the world better.

We're asking you to help get us back on our feet so we can keep doing this work that we love for people and causes that we care deeply about.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all so much. We love you, and we couldn't stay in business without you! Please donate if you can, and check your smoke detectors, please!

Love,
Amy & Richard (and the little dogs Peanut & Honey)
