"Where's Jac?": 1890 House Book

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

I am a senior Art History student at SUNY Cortland and, as part of an internship at The 1890 House Museum, I have written a children's book!

I'm hoping to reach $1685 , which would cover the cost of 200+ copies of the book as well as a copyright and an ISBN so that the book is marketable to schools and libraries.

The goal of the story is to promote local history while engaging young students in the history of Victorian childhood that The 1890 House has to offer.

Specifically, the book follows the character Frederic Wickwire as he looks for his pet Jac the parrot with his brother Charles. Although a fictional story, both boys are based on the lives of the two young brothers, of the same name, who lived in the house at the time.

This is Frederic and Jac!

The story follows them throughout the historic house pointing out artifacts that someone their age would have interacted with and locations within the house where they would have gone.

It is in picture book format, illustrated by photographs I have taken myself,  some illustrated with feathers I painted over them.

It would be extremely beneficial for the museum, surrounding schools and libraries if this book was published!

Thank you!
