Help autistic lad to keep his home

Donation protected
Hi I would like to introduce myself, my name is. Georgina Kerriage and I am a local lady who grew up and raised my own family in Newark Nottinghamshire. My two eldest daughters have left home and one is raising her own family and the other is enrolled at Manchester university. Only my youngest son is the only one left at home and he's 17 and he has Autism. He attends the Orchard school in Newark. I've been ill for a long long time, suffering from abscesses all over my body which prevented me from working. However, I did go to college for 5 years part time to train to be an accountant. Even though I wasn't fit enough to go out to work, I didn't sit on my bum and do nothing. I knew that you only succeed when you put in total effort into something.

A few years ago, the government allowed parents who could prove their income on benefits to be allowed to buy their property from the council. But due to ill health I couldn't get life insurance. But I was allowed to purchase my under the ruling that my son who is registered as disabled and I could prove I had enough to cover the mortgage. This house was brought as security for my disabled son to always have a roof over his head. I've had my mortgage now for 18 months and I'm fixed into it until august 2017. If I had known 18 months ago that I was dying I wouldn't of made the decision to buy my house, I would have saved my money instead of spending it on the house.

Unfortunately in November 2016 I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer and lymphnode cancer then two days later I was told I have incurable secondary bone cancer. They can try and prolong my life but they carnt cure me. I am worried about my son as he's very vulnerable and as a mother I worry for him and his future. I feel that if he was to be put in supported housing, it would change his personality. Jake would only feel comfortable in his own environment and not with strangers. This is why I am writing to you to ask for your help. Jake is a well liked and very well mannered young man. Change does not sit well with someone who as autism, so I have found someone who I trust to look after him, but I have got to raise £50,000.00 to pay for my home, which is the only home he as ever known.

I've been told that social services and the local authority will try to take my sons rights away from him if I am unable to sort something out for him. This will mean that they will place him in supported housing and force him to sell his home to pay for the supported housing. I am unable to put any of my other children on the mortgage as none of them are in a position to find the money for the mortgage. I am asking for people's help in either their time /donation/ fund raisers, anything helps.

My prognosis is anything from a month to a year, they don't like to tell you. My health is deteriorating and I have done a lot of the hard work already. I just need more people to help me. I am truly blessed with the people I have around me and I give my sincerest thanks for taking the time to read my letter and hopefully with everyone's help, I hope I manage to do this one last thing for my son before I die. Your help/donation is truly appreciated and I thank you for giving me this opportunity. Kindest regards Georgina x
