WHO: JBN Mission Statement: It is the goal of JBN to be the leading Urban Media Broadcast Network in the US. Providing an Urban & African-Centered perspective on news, information, sports and entertainment through streaming media services. To develop a broadcast network that will become a top 3 industry leader. To develop a network that is dedicated to providing black owned and operated businesses with a viable and reasonable place to advertise their products and services and grow their businesses. To create a media network that will strive to maintain and help expand the enrollment and size of Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country. To provide urban youth with education, training, & exposure to all aspects of digital media and the broadcast industry. To bring economic development to urban areas in the U.S. To change the face of the Urban community by telling our own stories! “Our World. Our Culture. Our Perspective!"
HOW: The initial launch of this network will focus on 7 to 10 primary cities and 4 secondary cities. Our goals are to, develop programming that is indicative of rich history and pride that we have! “Employ” journalist of African Descent in each of these markets who will be responsible for reporting stories and information back to the home office in Atlanta on a daily basis. Their job will be to provide ALL known information on situations that involve or affect our community. They will then research to get additional information to allow for intelligent discussion. We must remember there is a difference between commentary and news. We will provide a platform and space for BOTH!
WHAT: What are we asking of you? Like any endeavor of consequence it takes funding. So we are asking at least 450 black owned or operated businesses to purchase our special advertising deal or asking 5000 people who believe that our mission is important to donate at least $25. That is 6 months of advertising for only $300!!! This will assist us in launching the network in ALL 15 proposed cities and covering base expenses of JBN for at least one year!
WHAT ELSE: What would you get out of this? Well one the knowledge that you are now becoming a part of the solution of the lack of a NATIONAL BLACK OWNED MEDIA OUTLET and an organization that will maintain the highest level of Integrity and openness of truth in information. We will be fast, accurate and mainly TRUTHFUL in our dealings with EVERYONE! We will also host “The Urban Economic Conference” in each of the cities that are being targeted. This event will consist of seminars including: “Real Life Financial Planning, Economics for Couples & Urban Investment Opportunities”. There will also be vendors, a specialized networking session and performances by some of the best spoken word and independent neo soul artist in the country! Anyone who invests at least $25 to this project will be able to get into the event for only $10. We as a people talk about the problem of how mainstream media treats us, so now is YOUR opportunity to contribute to the Solution!
Why a real urban-oriented News and Entertainment Network?: Because world culture skews Urban, and African American culture, its music, its art, and now its television productions and written word are a worldwide phenomenon. Unfortunately, people of African descent have few opportunities to control their own culture, their own intellectual property, and their own financial power, especially in areas where our influence dominates. The lack of national broadcast media coverage for the 2015 Million Man March by the 4 mainstream “Black Targeted” & “Black Owned” broadcast companies in this country was a clear indication of where their loyalties are! We will be dedicated to providing all of the images of the African Diaspora!!!
Now is the time to contribute, to be in on the ground floor of a revolution. A revolution that gives and maintains control over our images, our message, the fruits of our labors, and charts a destiny that leads to permanent self-determination.
