Fight for Joel
At 33 years old, Joel Roschnafsky has spent most of his adult
life helping people.
In 10 years as a Physical Therapist, he has dedicated his
career to helping people recover from injury.
Over this same period he has dedicated much of his free time to coaching
Women's Soccer at Maryville University in St. Louis, first as a volunteer and
then as an assistant coach.
A little more than a year ago Joel married the love of his
life, Sasha, and they've since been enjoying marriage and planning their future
together. While on a trip celebrating
their first year of marriage, Joel began to feel the first effects of an illness
that has since been diagnosed as Stage 4 Gastric Cancer.
This week Joel visited doctors both at Missouri Baptist in
St. Louis and MD Anderson, a Cancer Research Center in Houston. He'll soon be undergoing genetic screening to
try to identify which genes are causing the damage to his body. With any luck, Joel can be a part of helping the
researchers and doctors at MD Anderson find a treatment for the specific genes
that have mutated into cancer. This week
he started Chemotherapy treatments that will continue for the foreseeable
future.
The fight ahead will place a huge financial burden on Joel
and Sasha. Between hospital stays,
travel to and from Houston, time off of work, and care for Joel, the bills will
add up quickly.
Joel has touched many people's lives and been an incredible
friend to all of us along the way. By
donating, you will not only help Joel but also be a part of the continued fight
against cancer.
Fight for Joel, because no one fights alone.
