So what is this GoFundMe/Team Heidi page all about?  It is the perfect opportunity for those of you that want to show Heidi your love and support for Heidi through monetary means (we know $$$ is just one way to show your support), GoFundMe is the place to do that.   You can share the site with others that you think would like to support Team Heidi and we will be updating the page as we go with lots of fun things we have coming up!  Below is Heidi's story.  *She also has a www.caringbridge.org/visit/heidirobotka

On Friday May, 30th I found a small lump on my breast while doing a self breast exam (I have always been diligent about doing this).  I scheduled an appointment on Monday June, 2nd to have it looked at.  My family practitioner referred me to a specialist at the hospital and I met with her on Thursday June 5th.  Because I was leaving town that day for the weekend we scheduled my bioposy for Monday June 9th.  I received my results from my biopsy on Thursday June 12th.  My doctor informed me that I had stage 2 breast cancer but that it was very treatable.  That same afternoon the hospital had set up my future appointments with the radiolgy oncologist and medical (chemo) oncologist - as a precautionary.  A couple of days had past and I received a call to come in and meet with my surgeon to discuss my treatment plan.  During that appointment she informed me that they had sent my slides to Mayo in Rochester for a second opinion because the "typical" strands that are present for breast cancer were missing from my bioposy.  At this time they had moved my future appoinment with the medical oncologist to the same day.  It was while meeting with him that I was told we were not dealing with the garden variety form of breast cancer and Mayo confirmed the same results.

My doctors as well as Mayo referred to my form of cancer as metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma.  In short, my cancer did not originate in my breast.  It began in my colon and spread to my breast, which is a very rare event - only 20 cases of this form of cancer since 1976.  My medical oncologist ordered a CT and colonoscopy to be comepleted immediately.

On Friday June 20th the results were in from my CT and it confirmed that the cancer was in my colon as well as my liver and breast.  I've been told I am stage 4 and it is not operable with a 5% survival rate.

I am seeking care at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  They are ranked #1 in the nation and specialize in treatment options for rare cancers.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone for all of your prayers and words of inspiration.  ♥  You, along with my family and two amazing children continue to give me my FIGHT to beat this!!  Thank you to my amazing friends for setting up this site!  I love you.
