Life Size Vern Gosdin Bronze Statue

Vern Gosdin has been such an influence on Country Music over the last 30 years. I really feel like now is the right time and a great opportunity for Country Music fans to pull together and give back to the small town of Woodland, Alabama. After all, they gave us Vern Gosdin. I met with the city council back last year, and they loved the idea of a life sized bronze statue of their hometown hero on display downtown. The problem is, for a town the size of Woodland, forking out $35,000 isn't an easy thing to do. There are children and young adults in Woodland that don't even know that a Country Music legend came from right there in that little bitty town. A singer-songwriter that not only had his own big hit songs on radio, but also had songs recorded by other legendary artists like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack, Randy Travis, Chris Young, Emmylou Harris, Jamey Johnson, George Jones, Keith Whitley, and many others. I have always felt that "The Voice" deserved way more recognition for his accomplishments, and now we can make that happen. Let's get Vern Gosdin permanently "Chisled In Stone" or bronze that is...
The statue total comes to $34,995, but with the extra $5,005, my goal would be to have an unveiling of the statue and celebrate "Vern Gosdin Day" in Woodland with some great entertainment. One big celebration for Vern in his hometown. I certainly hope you will all help me make this dream come true. Vern was a good friend to me, and I truly want this for him.
