#K4D, the story --- Our journey to Kidney Transplant started October 2009 when an unexpected visit to the Emergency room, led to specialist giving David "2 weeks to live" if emergency dialysis treatments did not start immediately. It's safe to say that we wasted no time gathering information about all the treatment options available, lifestyle changes that needed to happen, and even applying to for the transplant list at our local Las Vegas - University Medical Transplant Center (UMC).
For the next 10 or so years, David has been living a second life surrounded by doctors and dialysis.
Chasing down hurdle after hurdle, with so many unwanted but necessary situations (i.e. surgeries and other dialysis treatment options, there we stood (7/31/2019), we've finally seen hope inside the first door of the Transplant facility, having David's case being presented to the Transplant team. The exact date that David's name will be placed on the Transplant List is currently uncertain, however, this journey has not been for nothing. With the help of our current GoFund supporters we have not had to give up on getting back to a normal life.

- a1. Become a "Living (Kidney) Donor to David (blood type is A+)
"A person who donates one of their two kidneys can and will continue to life as healthy as they were prior to making this decision. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED, it is medically proven and there are survivors walking the Earth today.
Becoming a "Living Donor" grants David a second chance at a healthy/normal life, and gives the highest percentage of a longer life. Although there is a possibility for David to receive a kidney from a "Deceased Donor" the lifespan of this type of organ transplant is about 50% less than if it comes from a living person. To get more information, ask questions, or become the living donor, please contact our Transplant Coordinator using the number(s) below.

Be a savior where ever you are and sign up today to become an organ donor. Be that help in the future that someone direly needs. It's as easy as checking "YES" in a small box the next time your at the DMV.
- a3. Donate blood at any local Blood Drive.
Having to deal with Kidney Disease has taught us that for one people who's kidneys have failed them won't create new red blood cells, without artificial means by way of medications, and some patients end up needing a blood transfusion when their lab figures come back to low. Blood is the life source, and without a constant supply of it, more complications arrive. Visit your local blood drive, or find one by visiting the Red Cross's website.
