Zambia Hope Orphanage Mission

I am officially kicking off my fund raising campaign to get back to Zambia!  For those that do not already know, I feel called to a mission just outside of Kalalushi, Zambia.  This is in the Bush of northern Zambia in what is known as the Copperbelt district.  I will be helping to start an orphanage.  This will be an outreach of a large church in the area.  We have the building and it has been inspected and certified. Now I need to get back there so we can get it up and running.  My responsibility will be primary supervision of the day-to-day operation.  That means, hands on, making sure the children are cared for on a daily basis.  While I will have local ladies helping as volunteers, I will be responsible.  At least in the beginning, I will also be the primary house parent, living on site.  There is also a separate apartment for me close by in the event we are able to hire a local couple as house parents.



So why?  Well, because the need is real.  Many women die in childbirth.  Aids and malaria are major killers.  The biggest factor is medical care for people in the Bush is so poor.   If a family takes in an orphan, it is usually to have a servant.  There are exceptions, but the reality is that these people are so poor, that taking on an extra mouth to feed is an investment.  My primary goal is to not only care for these children, but to show them by example what it means to be loved.  So, I intend to put feet to my faith. I want to be a living, daily model of the love I have been shown. 

Many people say they care about others.  I want to show these children, and the people in the surrounding villages what caring means. I know not everyone is in a position to go and live in the Bush, but still do really care. I would love or those to take this journey with me by giving me your prayer and financial support.

So what are these funds for?  Well, there are no funds to hire me there.  While I work, I must eat.  These funds will primarily pay my basic living expenses for at least the next couple of years until I am eligible to draw on my retirement.  I will need a monthly amount, money for travel to Zambia, and to purchase start up my living (appliances, food stock the kitchen, generator and transportation to and from town, etc)  Any funds above those expenses will be used for kids!
