Pedal for Palestine

Donation protected
Hello! I'm Celia Miller! I'm a full-time vocal coach and music teacher, working from my private studio. My other great love is biking, and I'm going to be bicycling across the U.S .from Yorktown Virginia to Astoria Oregon starting May 12th. I plan on an average of 75 miles a day across 4229 miles through 10 states and climbs of up to 11,500 feet.

I am excited to capitalize on the energy I will use to climb the Appalachians and Rocky Mountains to inspire your donations towards a charity close to my heart. NO gift is too small. Every gift is gratefully received.

It is important to me that while we may agree or disagree about the causes and solutions to the occupied Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank, we do not forget the humanity of those who live there. Enter the Palestinian House of Friendship (PHF), a community organization based in Nablus, West Bank.

PHF believes it takes resilience to achieve a just and livable future for the Palestinian people. This resilience lies in the emotional and spiritual health of the children. This is a long term investment, to give the children a chance to grow and learn and play, even eat healthily, in ways they do not normally get a chance to do.

PHF is seeking financing to launch a recording studio where young people can record and develop their music and songwriting. I believe music enriches minds and sustains hearts. Many of the children and young people who live in the refugee camps around Nablus attend PHF's many programs including a summer camp where they learn traditional Palestinian music and dance.  Your gift will purchase software and hardware for the studio, and employ Palestinian musicians to teach the oud and other traditional instruments, preserving their cultural heritage.

PHF relies on donations that are mostly raised by the American Friends of the Palestinian House of Friendship. The American Friends live right here in Northampton, as well as in Boston and NYC. In fact, there are three fundraising events you can attend coming up where you can meet the founder of PHF, Mohammed Sawalha, Professor of Linguistics at An Najah University and hear traditional Palestinian music while I'm on the road! Go here to to find out more about those events.

YOUR OPTIONS are many. But consider donating here now, and giving a penny for every mile I bike. For 4229 miles that would be $42.29. If you cannot afford that, split it with friend(s)!

It will take resilience for me to spend 2.5-3 months on the road. I can't do it on my own. Your donations will energize me and extend the vision of PHF. Donate and encourage at least one other friend to do the same. This is about getting as many people as possible to give something to a wonderful cause.

NOTE: The funds collected here will go directly into the American Friends of the Palestinian House of Friendship account and transferred directly to PHF. If you prefer making a contribution by check please make it payable to American Friends of Palestinian House of Friendship and mail to American Friends of PHF 11 Kensington Avenue Northampton MA 01060. Please note Pedal for Palestine in your mailing.

Tax deductible donations can be made payable to ICSEE-PHF and mailed to Robert Lange, ICSEE-PHF, 81 Kirkland Street Unit 2, Cambridge, MA 02138. The non-profit organization International Collaborative for Science, Education and the Environment (ICSEE) is PHF’s fiscal sponsor in the United States.
