Hello,
My name is Scott. 4+ years ago I had a double lung transplant due to Cystic Fibrosis. Almost 1 year to the day after that transplant I made the decision to have the left lung removed due to a year-long battle to strengthen and assist that lung in growth and function, only to end up spending almost the entire first year post transplant in the hospital.
In the last 4+ years I have experienced about 1 year of “bliss”, rare infections, rare hospital stays, and a simply wonderful existence. About the time I thought I could take a few classes and re-enter the work force, I began to get sick again, frequently.
Flash forward two years, I’ve learned I have been experiencing chronic rejection for the last two years. My lung is now at 30% capacity and I’ve had to begin to use oxygen again. Even pulling the O2 cylinder around can wear me out.
In addition to trying to mentally grasp the idea of needing another transplant I have been denied access to one facility due to the diminished function of my kidneys due to years of antibiotics when sick, steroids and the myriad of other meds required for a lung transplant recipient. Doctors told me basically I am on my own to find a facility that will accept me into their transplant program.
I am asking that number one, you pray for me and God’s will in my life. Second, I ask that you please join me on my journey through a donation, no matter the amount. Depending on where the facility is that accepts me as a high-risk transplant candidate, I will experience new day-to-day living expenses for housing, food, gas etc., not to mention travel expenses to the facility.
I will tell you in advance that I will never be able to express how much I appreciate your prayers and/or donations. This task will be difficult if not impossible without BOTH of these things. I welcome any questions you may have. I am on Facebook, friend me, Scott Machowski.
