Hello, my name is Mike Hawkins.  I have come to a point where I have to start a different, but new chapter in my life.  Over the last 10 years, after retiring from my professional basketball career I have spent hours and hours, training my kids.  The fruits of labor are about to pay off.  Nigel, my oldest son, has become one of the top ten players in the city of Houston and has already passed his college entry test as a Junior.  And Mike, my middle son, is following close behind his big brother’s every step.

I enjoy sharing what I know about the game, and how it should be played as a team sport with passion and energy.  I was not the most talented player or athletic as a kid, but had a dream to play in the NBA.  I worked hard and with a, first one in-last one to leave attitude, I fulfilled my dream.  I had the rare opportunity to play college basketball and to go on to play professionally.  I want to help others achieve their dream. 

My wife and I are passionate about family, youth and community.  We decided to combine our passions with our skills.  We have established Center Court Hawks, a non-profit 501(3)c, organization to help area boys and girls to develop through sports by doing the following: 
-  improve fundamentals
-  improve their knowledge of the sport
-  encourage hard work and dedication
-  provide education on nutrition and healthy living
-  open their eyes to the opportunities in life on and off the court.

Our long term goal is to build a facility that we can call home to Center Court Hawks while also providing a place to help other members of the community stay active and fit.

Center Court Hawks will have both boys and girls youth basketball teams that will train and compete in and around the Houston area.  Funds collected will help the cost of running the team (uniforms, facility rental, tournament fees, equipment, etc.).   The more funds we raise the more we can provide for our teams and it will also relieve the financial strain for our parents. 

I was blessed to have a support cast in my life to help me make it to college and know the importance this plays in a child’s life.  Center Court Hawks wants to be a supportive influence on our team members.  We want to use our experience and resources to provide opportunities for the next generation.  We appreciate your help in this journey.
