Urgent Need After Zawadi’s Accident
Doação protegida

Hi friends. Many of you know I started designing jewelry just a few short years ago following a visit to artisanal mining sites in East Africa. I've had the honor of meeting some very special people who helped me take the tremendous leap of faith into a new career. One of those people is my friend pictured above, Zawadi Mongi. Zawadi means gift in Swahili and his gift was music. Zawadi's friendship made such an impact that I created a double-shank ring style within the Watu Collection bearing his name.

I've followed Zawadi's life through social media and as he has become a father and husband with hopes of opening a shop, however Zawadi's financial plans for his young family, including sending his 4 year old daughter Peris to kindergarten in January, have been destroyed.

Zawadi was in a serious accident on August 12th, 2019. He was on his way home from work to celebrate his wife's birthday when he was hit by a truck. Zawadi suffered internal bleeding, a lung injury, multiple fractures in his left elbow and hand, and open double fractures in both legs. He was fortunate enough to have some money in his pockets which was enough for the immediate treatment needed to save his life. Without insurance, Zawadi receives only treatment he can pay for. Last week Zawadi had to undergo a fifth surgery, this time because "they didn't lock the screw inside and it migrated", preventing him from being able to bend his knee.

Funds have been collected by Zawadi's friends and colleagues to cover his previous 33 days in the hospital, 5 surgeries, medication, therapies, x-rays, etc., but he will need a lot more help along his way to recovery.
Please help me in raising a $5000.00 to help this young family during their crisis. They need urgent help with food, rent, medical needs for both Zawadi and his wife's delivery, school for his 4 year old, and care for his newborn. It will be at least 6 months before Zawadi can walk again, avoiding any complications.
"Am so scared...It's not easy to disturb my friends, but I have no way out."
Zawadi said these words to me....it's his genuine plea for help, not just for himself, but for his family too. If you can give a little, it will go a long way in helping this family get the care and monetary help they need.
Sincerely thank you friends,
