<div>UPDATE (Feb. 19, 2026): It’s been a very long time since an update was posted, and I apologize for that. There has been great progress on some fronts and less on others. Gabrielle’s friend — who we’ll call “Sue” — was hospitalized and their mental health is stabilizing after years of escalating and worsening crisis. They are still very fragile but doing so much better and temporarily staying with a supportive friend.

<div>We were also able to find a good therapist at a sliding scale. Sue has no substance abuse issues so she is not eligible for any of the community programs and it was necessary to seek private therapy. Fortunately it is at greatly reduced cost.

<div>However, the housing situation means that the monthly storage locker fees must continue. The place where Sue is staying is tiny and they do not even have a bedroom. And whenever housing is finally secured they will require funds to move. Please know they are doing everything they can on their end and we are just hoping the community can help us to maintain a level of stability for them to continue healing.

<div>The friend wishes to remain anonymous for various valid reasons and would prefer if we did not discuss too many details about their situation or disability.

<div>This involves a landlord tenant situation where, despite repeated requests and ample documentation including by people hired by the landlord that urged repairs be done, the landlord refused. The professional that was hired also stated unequivocally that the tenant bore no responsibility for the repairs needed as the problem lay outside the unit. Despite this the landlord refused to do any repair work resulting in the current crisis event that has left the unit uninhabitable.

<div>Gabrielle has arranged a place for this person to stay temporarily, but there is an urgent need for funds to cover the cost of movers and a storage locker for whatever they are able to salvage. This person may also need to replace many of their belongings including clothing, bed and furniture, bedding, towels, etc.

<div>If sufficient funds are raised they may also be used for legal advice and/or representation. Launching a legal action may not be accessible to this person at the moment however. The goal right now is harm reduction and to limit the amount of additional stress and trauma this adds to their life.
