<div><strong>Unser Patenkind Elma ist ein 6-jähriges Mädchen mit einer sehr schweren Mehrfachbeeinträchtigung. </strong>Sie kann weder laufen, sitzen noch stehen. Außerdem ist sie nonverbal, blind und Trägerin einer Magensonde. Hinzukommt eine starke Epilepsie. Doch Elma ist ein wundervolles Kind, das Lust auf’s Leben hat! Mit ihrem einzigartigen Gemüt, ihrem Kampfgeist, ihrer Genügsamkeit und zugleich Willensstärke berührt sie viele Menschen und bringt selbst den kältesten Eisblock zum schmelzen.

<div>Ihre Eltern Klara und André kämpfen jeden Tag, um Elma und den zwei Geschwistern (7 und 2 Jahre alt) trotz großer Herausforderungen eine glückliche Kindheit zu schenken. Beide Elternteile arbeiten in Teilzeit, soweit es die extrem belastete Betreuungssituation zulässt. Für uns sind die beiden echte Alltagshelden, die es mehr als verdient haben Unterstützung zu bekommen, damit ihnen zumindest die finanzielle Belastung etwas genommen wird. Denn glaubt uns: Sorgen hat diese Familie schon genug.

<div>Unwissend, dass Elma einen sehr seltenen Gendefekt hat, der deutschlandweit nur bei zwei Fällen bekannten Hypomyelinisierenden Leukodytrophie Typ 9, kaufte sich die Familie vor der Geburt eine gut bezahlbare Eigentumswohnung, allerdings mit vielen Treppen, was leider der Familie zusätzlich zu ihren Schicksalsschlägen zum Verhängnis wurde. Schon in Elmas ersten Lebensjahr ging es ihr unfassbar schlecht. Doch das größte Wunder wurde war: Elmas Zustand stabilisierte sich. Dennoch machte sich die Familie auch nach dem ersten Lebensjahr vorerst keine ernsthaften Gedanken, ob ein rollstuhlgerechtes Zuhause nötig sein würde, denn Elmas Lebenserwartung lag bei nur 24 bis 48 Monaten. Als sie auch diesen Prognosen mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht trotzte, war irgendwann klar, dass sie ihre Tochter in ihrer Wohnung nicht dauerhaft pflegen können. Die "kleine" Maus ist inzwischen 1,30m groß und eine fehlende Rumpfkontrolle sowie einschießende Spastiken erschweren das Tragen. In der Wohnung war ein Einbau eines Liftersystems über mehrere Etagen nicht möglich, sodass die Familie nach langem Überlegen und mit dem Risiko sich hoch zu verschulden ein Haus kaufen musste, indem Elma im Erdgeschoss mit einem Pflegebad wohnen kann. Allerdings deckt die Förderung der Krankenkasse von 4180€ nicht mal die Kosten für die Verlegung der neuen Leitungen, da das Pflegebad aus Platzgründen in einen anderen Raum versetzt werden musste.

<div><strong>Die finanzielle Unterstützung ist für 3 Zwecke gedacht:</strong>

<div>1. Die Sanierung des Pflegebads für Elma. Eine gebrauchte Pflegewanne konnte die Familie schon kostengünstig erwerben, aber weitere hohe Kosten stehen an. 
</div>
<div>2. Ein Rollstuhlgerechtes Auto mit Rampe. Noch hebt die Familie Elma in einen Kindersitz in ihren alten Transporter, doch beide Elternteile kommen an ihre Grenzen. Das Ersparte für ein anderes Auto musste für das Haus eingesetzt werden.

<div>3. Für uns ein besonderes Anliegen: Kleine Familienausflüge und besondere Erlebnisse mit der Familie, denn Elmas Zeit auf Erden ist sehr begrenzt!

<div><strong>Our godchild Elma is a 6-year-old girl with a very severe multiple disability.</strong> She cannot walk, sit, or stand. In addition, she is non-verbal, blind, and dependent on a feeding tube. She also suffers from severe epilepsy. Yet Elma is a wonderful child who has a real zest for life! With her unique nature, her fighting spirit, her contentment, and at the same time her determination, she touches many hearts and can melt even the coldest of souls.

<div>Her parents, Klara and André, fight every day to give Elma and her two siblings (aged 7 and 2) a happy childhood despite the great challenges they face. Both parents work part-time, as far as their extremely demanding care situation allows. To us, they are true everyday heroes who more than deserve to receive some support—so that at least the financial burden can be eased a little. Because believe us: this family already has enough worries.

<div>Unaware that Elma had a very rare genetic defect — Hypomyelinating Leukodystrophy type 9, with only two known cases in Germany — the family bought an affordable flat before her birth. Unfortunately, it has many stairs, which has only added to their hardships. In Elma’s first year of life, her condition was incredibly poor. But then the greatest miracle happened: her condition stabilised. Even after her first birthday, the family did not initially think much about whether an accessible home would be necessary, as Elma’s life expectancy was only 24 to 48 months.
</div>
<div>When she defied this prognosis with a smile on her face, it eventually became clear that caring for their daughter in that flat would not be possible in the long term. The “little” mouse is now 1.30 metres tall, and a lack of trunk control combined with sudden spasms makes lifting her increasingly difficult. Installing a hoist system across multiple floors was impossible, so after much deliberation — and at the risk of taking on significant debt — the family had to buy a house where Elma could live on the ground floor with an accessible bathroom. However, the health insurance grant of €4,180 does not even cover the cost of relocating the plumbing, as the bathroom had to be moved to another room due to space limitations.

<div><strong>The financial support is intended for three purposes:</strong>
</div>
<div>1. Renovation of Elma’s accessible bathroom. The family has already been able to purchase a second-hand care bathtub at a low price, but there are still high costs ahead.
</div>
<div>2. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle with a ramp. For now, the family still lift Elma into a child seat in their old van, but both parents are reaching their physical limits. The savings for another car had to be used for the house.
</div>
<div>3. Something very close to our hearts: small family outings and special experiences together, because Elma’s time on earth is very limited.
