<div>April 20, 2025 marked the start of our spring break, and we escaped to the mountains—just me, Khloe, Zoey, and my sister. Everything felt peaceful and right. We soaked in the serenity: the wind whispering through the trees, the river rushing gently beneath us.

<div>It was a much-needed getaway, especially after the joyful celebration we had just days earlier. On April 8th, we gathered with all our loved ones to celebrate a long-awaited moment—Zoey ringing the bell to mark the end of her treatment. A mariachi band played in the background as we danced, laughed, and cried tears of joy. It felt like the beginning of a brand-new chapter, full of hope and healing.

<div>April 23rd was another day we had dreamed of. Zoey began her first horseback riding lessons, and I had the joy of teaching her everything I know. Khloe rode alongside us, full of laughter and light. It was a picture-perfect afternoon through the eyes of two little girls dreaming of riding into the sunset.

<div>But later that evening, just as we sat down for dinner, a missed call came through from Zoey’s doctor. We all felt it—that deep, sinking feeling in our hearts. The labs were back. And though the doctor didn’t have to say much, we knew.

<div>Relapse.
</div>
<div>Leukemia was back, knocking on our door once again.
</div>

<div>Sitting in the same hospital room we’d said goodbye to less than a month ago didn’t feel real. Listening to treatment plans all over again was heartbreaking—and far too familiar.

<div>This time, though, we’re walking into the storm with more knowledge, more strength, and a deeper understanding of the road ahead. But we also know the weight it carries.

<div>Nancy, my sister and Zoey’s rock, will now have to quit her job to stay by Zoey’s side through this next round of treatment in San Diego. As the sole provider for her family of three, she’s facing not only the emotional toll—but a financial one too.

<div>Nancy, mi hermana y el pilar de Zoey, tendrá que dejar su trabajo para acompañarla durante el tratamiento en San Diego. Ella es el único sustento para su familia de tres.
