Violet and Doug were devoted partners, known for their kindness and the love they shared with everyone around them. On February 19th, Doug went into the hospital for a minor procedure, but something went terribly wrong. He became unresponsive, and the hospital staff had to act quickly with life-saving measures. Although they were able to stabilize him, Doug never regained consciousness. For a week, Violet, their family, and friends held onto hope and prayed for his recovery.

On February 25th, after an MRI, the hospital staff determined that Doug had suffered major brain damage and would not be able to make a meaningful, long-term recovery. Violet was faced with the unimaginable decision to remove life support, which is happening on February 28th, 2026. This loss is sudden and heartbreaking, leaving Violet to navigate not only her grief but also the unexpected and overwhelming aftermath.
