<div>This is why we at DOHS Cares are building<strong> Healing Haven</strong>. A place for healing, safety, and recovery.

<div>Imagine being left behind, by a loved one due to femicide, struggling to cope with the trauma and mental health impacts. In Nigeria, children, siblings, and parents of GBV/ femicide victims struggle with deep psychological trauma and social isolation long after the violence occurs.
</div>
<div>DOHS Cares Foundation is launching <strong>Healing Haven</strong>, a trauma healing center dedicated to supporting survivors of femicide and GBV, especially women and children who have nowhere else to turn.
</div>
<div>In <strong>2024</strong>, we tracked <strong>over 150 cases</strong> of femicide in Nigeria.
</div>
<div>In <strong>2025</strong>, we tracked <strong>over 200 victims</strong>.
</div>

<div>In just <strong>two years</strong>, we have tracked <strong>over 350 victims</strong> of femicide in Nigeria.

<div>Behind each case are lives permanently altered:

<div>● Children who witnessed these violence suffering anxiety, migraines, and trauma.
</div>
<div>● Families losing income due to prolonged legal trials in court and trauma.
</div>
<div>● Siblings unable to function emotionally or professionally.
</div>
<div>● Survivors separated from loved ones due to unsafe living conditions.
</div>
<div>These impacts are rarely addressed by existing systems in Nigeria.

<div><strong>Our Solution: Healing Haven</strong>
</div>
<div>Healing Haven will be a safe, trauma-informed sanctuary providing holistic care and long-term recovery support. It will protect survivors as they pursue justice, free from external influences persuading them from speaking up.

<div>The center will offer:
</div>
<div>1. Therapy: Professional trauma counseling and psychotherapy
</div>
<div>2. Healing Circles for living victims of femicide (Mental health services for women and children left behind by an act of femicide)
</div>
<div>3. Temporary safe accommodation for SGBV survivors and their children
</div>
<div>4. Life skills training and economic empowerment programs
</div>
<div>5. Peer support groups and community healing initiatives
</div>

<div>Over the past two years, we have responded to numerous cases arising in the aftermath of femicide;

<div>➢ A Victim’s sibling refusing to care for their hair for 2 years, holding on till they get justice for their sister.
</div>
<div>➢ A child turning violent amongst peers after witnessing what happened to her mother.
</div>
<div>➢ Children battling migraines and nightmares after witnessing violence.
</div>
<div>➢ Children separated from their siblings due to loss of both parents in a femicide suicide case or due to the father (perpetrator being in prison)

<div>➢ Families losing everything to pursue legal cases
</div>
<div>➢ Children being used to influence cases especially when the father is the perpetrator.
</div>
<div>➢ A Mother experiencing a mental break down after her children’s abuse ordeal.
