Maybe you’ve seen Toñita in Brooklyn. Maybe you recognize her from her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, or her shoutout in Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL.” Maybe you’ve made lifelong friends over dominoes at her Caribbean Social Club, a cherished cultural hub that welcomes community members with open arms.

For over 50 years, Toñita has poured her heart into the club, which regulars affectionately call “Toñita’s.” It’s more than a place for $3 beers, music, and dancing. It’s a home away from home. Toñita offers free food to unhoused Brooklynites every week, stages incredible cultural events, and creates a safe, welcoming space for generations of Latin@s and allies. The club has stories woven into its walls; they’re covered in decades of memories, gifts, and accolades, each a testament to the love and respect our Brooklyn matriarch has earned.
