<div>Hi, my name is Terrell. My brother and I have been caring for our mother, who has struggled with mental illness for most of our lives. She was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia many years ago, and sadly, her condition has worsened significantly in recent months.

<div>Our mom is now 68 years old. She walks with a cane and, when unmedicated, experiences episodes where she believes her family members are demons and that the government is out to harm her. During her most recent episode, she called the police on us. It was heartbreaking and terrifying—but thankfully, the officers quickly understood the situation and helped get her the care she needed that night.

<div>We’re doing everything we can to keep her safe, medicated, and fed. I work two jobs just to cover her utilities and basic needs, while also trying to support my own household. The emotional and financial toll is overwhelming, and we’re running out of options.

<div>This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. Watching the woman who raised me slowly slip away is devastating. But even in this version of herself, she still depends on me—and I refuse to give up on her.
