<div>Recently, I was diagnosed with brain cancer—a very rare and aggressive type of glioma called H3 K27M, a diffuse midline glioma that is wrapped around my brainstem. It’s about the size of an orange.
</div>

</div>
<div>What’s even more shocking is that this tumor has likely been growing silently for over 15 years, even though this type of cancer is typically fast-growing and most commonly found in children. Most people diagnosed with this only live about two years—but somehow, I’ve beaten the odds so far.
</div>

<div>How This All Started
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Back in March, I began getting short headaches when I laughed—only lasting about 20 seconds. Over time, the pain got worse, showing up when I bent over or strained in any way. I finally saw a neurologist, had an MRI, and was sent straight to MD Anderson to see a neurosurgeon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On July 23rd, I had another MRI, and the neurosurgeon believes there’s a safe way to do a biopsy. If confirmed, we’ll move forward with radiation therapy to hopefully slow the tumor’s progression.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There’s currently no cure for this type of tumor—but there is hope. The FDA is meeting soon to potentially approve a new drug called ONC-201, which could slow the tumor’s growth—or even shrink it—and give me more precious time with my family.
</div>

<div>I haven’t been able to work during all of this—between nonstop scans, doctor’s visits, and waiting for insurance to begin in August. My husband Cleon is doing everything he can: working full time, taking care of me, and being an incredible dad to our daughter, Kya.
