<div>My name is S. I'm from Lima, Peru, and I'm raising money to support my family during one of the hardest times of our lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I came to the United States two years ago with my five-year-old daughter to reunite with my husband, J., who came to the U.S. in 2022. We left Peru because of extortion and violence. J. was the first to leave. He worked as a street vendor in Gamarra, Lima's garment district, where he was being extorted. When he refused to keep paying, they beat him so badly they broke his head open. He received a warning that they would kill him. On a separate occasion, while working as a moto-taxi driver, he was attacked during a robbery attempt. He still suffers from chronic sinusitis and lung problems caused by those beatings. He had no choice but to leave.
</div>

</div>
<div>My daughter and I stayed behind in Lima for a while longer. I owned a small acrylic nail spa in a neighborhood controlled by an extortion ring. They tried to kidnap my daughter. After that, I filed a police report and they continued to threaten us. It became clear we could no longer stay, and we made the journey to come reunite with J. here.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We came here looking for safety and a better life for our daughter. J. has been the one supporting our family through his work in construction and painting.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In February, our lives changed in an instant. ICE broke down our door and took J. away in front of our now 7-year-old daughter. She is still devastated. She watched her father be taken from our home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While he is detained, J. tells me that he and other detainees are reading the word of God and praying together. His faith is what is holding him up, and ours too.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am asking for help with:
</div>
<div>* Rent, food, and basic expenses for me and my daughter while J. is detained
</div>
<div>* Legal costs
</div>
<div>* Phone calls and commissary while he is detained
</div>
<div>Anything you can give helps. If you cannot give, please share this page or keep our family in your prayers. Thank you for reading our story.

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
Intentaron secuestrar a mi hija.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Estoy pidiendo ayuda para cubrir:
</div>
</div>
<div>* Costos legales
</div>
<div>* Llamadas y comisariato mientras está detenido
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gracias por leer nuestra historia.
