<div>Hi, my name is Luis , and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend and coworker, Sandra Sarmiento, a hard-working single mother of two who has just suffered an unimaginable loss.

<div>On Monday, July 14, 2025, Sandra’s home in Plainfield, New Jersey was severely impacted by the destructive floods that swept through the city. The damage left behind has upended her life and the lives of her children.

The floodwaters destroyed all the belongings stored in her garage, both of her vehicles, her HVAC unit, washer and dryer, and even caused structural damage to her home—leaving multiple interior walls in need of complete restoration. The emotional toll of seeing her family home torn apart, paired with the financial burden of repairing and replacing so much, is overwhelming.

<div>Sandra is the kind of person who shows up for everyone—at work, for her family, and in her community. She is strong, humble, and rarely asks for help. But right now, she cannot do this alone.

<div>Hola, mi nombre es Luis, y estoy organizando esta colecta en nombre de mi querida amiga y compañera de trabajo, Sandra Sarmiento, una madre soltera de dos hijos que acaba de sufrir una pérdida devastadora.

<div>El lunes 14 de julio de 2025, la casa de Sandra en Plainfield, Nueva Jersey, fue gravemente afectada por las fuertes inundaciones que azotaron la ciudad. Los daños que dejó la tormenta han trastocado por completo su vida y la de sus hijos.

<div>Sandra perdió casi todo. El agua destruyó todas las pertenencias que tenía guardadas en su garaje, sus dos vehículos, su sistema de calefacción y aire acondicionado (HVAC), lavadora y secadora, y además causó daños estructurales en su hogar, dejando múltiples paredes interiores que ahora necesitan ser completamente reparadas. Ver su hogar dañado de esta manera, sumado a la carga emocional y económica de tener que empezar de nuevo, ha sido devastador.

<div>Sandra es de esas personas que siempre están ahí para los demás—en el trabajo, con su familia y en su comunidad. Es fuerte, humilde, y rara vez pide ayuda. Pero en este momento, no puede sola.
