 Our story began in 1972, after a much-loved Golden Retriever from Sidmouth went missing and was tragically put to sleep as a stray. Two women, Mrs Shrimpton &amp; Miss Hindley, were so heartbroken that they decided something had to change.

 That decision became Sidmouth Animal Welfare Society &amp; Animal Rescue Centre.
</div>

 Since then, countless dogs have come through our doors - frightened, abandoned, elderly, unwanted, lost their owner or simply without anywhere else to turn. We give them safety, kindness, care and the chance of a new life.

 Now, we need someone to be there for us.

 ARC is facing an incredibly difficult time, with soaring costs. Needing more than £100,000 a year to keep the rescue running, without more support, our future looks uncertain.
