<div>Meet Nash Larsen, a vibrant 9-year-old boy who loves nothing more than being outside playing sports with his friends and siblings. He is a dedicated sports fan, following local teams and players closely, even memorizing many of their stats. Whether Nash is pitching a doubleheader, playing flag football, or just laughing in the grass with his teammates, he's full of life, laughter, and energy.

<div>Recently, Nash was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes—a life-altering condition that has brought a wave of unexpected challenges. Between hospital visits, insulin treatments, and ongoing medical care, the financial strain has quickly grown out of control for this family of 7. <strong>We are reaching out to our community near and far for support during this difficult time</strong> as his family focuses on helping him adjust to his new normal and ensuring he has everything he needs to stay healthy and active.

<div>Nash’s story began with a broken finger while playing flag football. Soon thereafter, friends and family quickly noticed that Nash was withdrawing from his friends, general love and interest in sports, and even from his siblings (he’s one of five kids!). His parents attributed his continued change in mood to his injury and hoped it was just a phase. They were sure it would be short-lived! As parents, we always reassure ourselves with the logical, right?…

<div>Tragically, a week after breaking his finger, Nash fell into a diabetic coma due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), lasting nearly 48 hours. The medical team was uncertain about potential permanent brain damage. The family of seven was overcome with fear, barely being able to breathe or think clearly, so they prayed and paced non-stop.

<div>After nearly a week in the ICU, he received a new diagnosis: Type 1 Diabetes.

<div>Despite ongoing medical, home, and other unexpected expenses in the wake of Nash's diagnosis, the family's primary focus remains providing stability and support for their five children. Regular blood sugar checks, many missed school days, and feelings of being different are now significant adjustments for Nash.

<div>To help manage the stress and adjust to their “new normal,” doctors are recommending a Diabetic Therapy Dog for Nash (costs range between 10-20K for this specific type of dog). But with uncovered ER and medical bills now exceeding $150,000.00 in addition to monthly insulin costs, it has become very difficult for this family to manage all of Nash’s new needs. While still owing a great deal of money to hospitals, in addition to home bills stacking up, the hope is for this gofundme to be used towards a therapy dog for Nash. The dog is able to assist in preventing a future set back and/or comatose situation in the future. (The dogs are trained to “smell” low blood sugar before a crash!). Truly amazing-
