<div>On July 9, we rushed our precious 2-year-old daughter, Malani Dior Arose Desavieu, to UK Hospital after noticing her entire body was swollen and she had suddenly gained 7 pounds. After a series of extensive tests, she was diagnosed with **Nephrotic Syndrome**. Since then, our journey has been filled with numerous hospital visits, tests, and different medications, but nothing could prepare us for what came next.

<div>A recent biopsy revealed that Malani has **Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)** with a “tip lesion” – one of the most aggressive forms of this kidney disease. Her kidneys are already damaged, and her kidney function has started declining . This means longer hospital stays and a tougher fight ahead.

<div>At just 2 years old (born on February 13, 2022), Malani is the smartest, most confident, and outgoing little girl you could imagine, with a bit of sass that keeps everyone smiling. She shouldn’t have to go through this – no child should. But her hospital stays, needles, and treatments have already left her traumatized, and our battle is far from over.

<div>As her mother, I’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision to resign from my job so I can be by her side 24/7, making sure she gets the attention and care she needs. But this has put us in a tough financial situation. While Malani fights for her health, we still need to keep a roof over our heads and manage mounting medical bills.
