<div>On Friday, my mom, Kari Lambert—a beloved bus driver for Kirtland

<div>Local Schools for the past 28 years—was involved in a serious bus

</div>

<div>accident while doing what she loves. Thankfully, no children were on

</div>

<div>the bus at the time of the crash. The accident was so severe that

</div>

<div>emergency responders had to use the Jaws of Life to free her, as her

</div>

<div>leg had become pinned under the dashboard.

</div>

<div>Her injuries are extensive. Her lower femur and knee were shattered,

</div>

<div>requiring emergency surgery the next day. Surgeons placed a rod from

</div>

<div>her knee to her hip to stabilize her femur, along with screws and

</div>

<div>plates to help rebuild her knee. She is now non-weight-bearing on that

</div>

<div>leg for at least 12 weeks. My sister and I are taking shifts to help

</div>

<div>care for her during this difficult time.

</div>

<div>My mom is known for always having a smile on her face and greeting

</div>

<div>every child on her route with warmth and kindness. She’s someone who

</div>

<div>has always put others first—and now she needs our help.

</div>

<div>We are raising funds to support her recovery, including, medical

</div>

<div>expenses, mobility and rehabilitation equipment, and day-to-day living

</div>

<div>costs while she’s unable to work

</div>

<div>As hard as this has been, we are incredibly grateful that she’s still with us.
