<div>What began as a simple doctor’s visit led to the unexpected discovery of a tumor in her kidney. The diagnosis—kidney cancer—came as a shock. Soon, Joyce will undergo surgery to remove her right kidney and nearby tissue. If cancer is found beyond that area, she’ll face months of weekly travel to Iowa City for treatment.
