Joe is the kind of person who always puts others first, and as a crossing guard in Chicago, he’s been a quiet hero to countless families and kids, making sure they get to school safely every day. He does this important work with humility and a big heart without asking for recognition or reward.

<div>Yesterday, Joe’s kindness went viral when he was spotted by the WGN copter carrying a child on his back across a flooded street, making sure the he got to school dry and safe. The story has touched thousands with all sorts of people everywhere reaching out, wanting to thank Joe for his above-and-beyond dedication to his community. Crossing guards like Joe are the backbone of our neighborhoods, working hard for modest pay, and this moment is a chance to show him how much he’s appreciated.
