<div>Isela and I celebrated the greatest moment of our lives when we got married in October of 2024. We then welcomed a new member to our family in January 2025, our Mini Goldendoodle puppy, Gianni. Things were going well as we adjusted to married life with our new dog.

<div>In April, new challenges arrived. Isela’s grandmother passed away on April 11th, and just 3 days later, my grandfather passed away on April 14th. While navigating and mourning the loss of our grandparents, Isela noticed a lump and dimpling on her breast in May. After consulting with her physician, we moved forward to get a definitive answer to what this was. The initial ultrasound and diagnostic mammogram were concerning to the doctors, and the decision was made to proceed with a biopsy. Results confirmed breast cancer. <strong>We immediately made plans to learn more about what we were up against with additional ultrasounds, breast MRIs, consultations with our oncology team, our surgical team, a full-body CT scan, a full-body bone scan, and a meeting with our fertility team as it is our hope to start a family in the near future.</strong>

<div>After all of these consults and additional scans, the decision has been made to proceed with chemotherapy, followed by surgical removal of the tumor, radiation, and reconstructive surgery.

<div><strong>We don’t know what the immediate future holds, but with your help, Isela and I are ready to do whatever it takes to fight this and beat it!</strong>

<div>Isela plans on continuing to serve her students in her role as a high school counselor, be a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and dog mom to the best of her abilities during her treatment process.
