<div>On August 13th, workers of the Hilton Americas voted 99.3% to authorize a strike. Workers are fighting for a living wage of at least $23 an hour, health and safety improvements, dignity, and respect. 2024 was a record breaking year for the city of Houston. According to Houston First, the city’s destination marketing organization, Houston broke records for the number of visitors and hotel revenue. Hotel revenue increased 15.5% to 3 billion dollars in 2024, yet hotel workers have not seen the benefits of that boom and struggle to pay their bills.
