<div>Life threw me a curveball recently when I had to undergo an unexpected emergency appendectomy. As a two-income family, we’ve always managed to get by, but being out of work for the next few weeks has put us in a really tough spot. While I will receive short-term disability through my job, it won’t cover my full pay, and it won’t start right away. On top of that, we’re now facing a large medical bill.

<div>We had already planned a small birthday trip for Kayden this weekend — something we were so excited about — and put it on credit before any of this happened. Now, between medical costs, regular bills, groceries, gas, and trying to make sure Kayden still has a special birthday, things feel overwhelming.
