<div>I’m Genesis and my partner Virginia and I are a queer couple building a life together in NYC. We’re so excited to share our journey to parenthood with you.... though we’ll be honest sharing this publicly is a big step for us.

<div>We’ve spent the last 7 years growing a life together full of intention, so much love and hopes. And from the very beginning the dream of creating a family was always there waiting. Over the years we set aside what we could into our “baby fund” to help make our dream a reality one day.

<div>But as we moved forward with the IVF process, I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve... making things much more time-sensitive. It wasn’t easy to process, but it’s made us act with more urgency and intention.
</div>

</div>
<div>We’ve chosen to grow our family through Reciprocal IVF, a process where each of us provides the egg and the other carries the pregnancy 1–2 years apart. For us... it’s the most intimate and meaningful way to bring our children into the world.
</div>

<div>We began our IVF journey with a fertility center last year after finding a doctor we felt safe with. And since then we’ve gone through endless medical prep, mandated therapy sessions, paperwork and selecting and purchasing sperm donor vials.
</div>

</div>
<div>We recently found out that I’ll need to undergo surgery to increase our chances of success. Having been diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve, I have fewer viable eggs and could require multiple rounds of retrievals to create one healthy embryo.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Here’s a breakdown of our IVF journey across two cycles (for both myself and Virginia):</strong>

</div>
<div>•<strong>	Sperm donor and storage: </strong>$11,790
</div>
<div>•<strong>	Embryo biopsies:</strong> $830 (per embryo)
</div>
<div><strong>•	Medications:</strong> $3,000 - $8,000 per person (depending on individual response)
</div>
<div>•<strong>	Anesthesia:</strong> $2,200
</div>
<div>•<strong>	Annual egg storage: </strong>$2,300
</div>
<div>•<strong>	Frozen embryo transfer:</strong> $9,000
</div>
<div><strong>The estimated total cost ranges between $72,920 and $82,920</strong>
</div>
<div>This total does not include clinic fees, varying medications, or unexpected medical procedures.

<div>We’re covering as much as we can out of pocket including the purchase of donor sperm, clinic fees, medications and our first round of IVF. We’re hoping to raise money to help offset a portion of the total cost and move us closer to growing our family.

<div>While our original plan was to begin treatment together in May and June this year.. our plans have shifted a bit. Due to my upcoming surgery, my portion of the process had to be delayed. But in the meantime, Virginia will begin egg retrieval and embryo freezing in June.

<div>As a queer couple, parenthood has come with many extra steps, extra questions and extra care. But it’s also taught us how strong and resilient we are. We can’t wait to expand our family. And we’re soo soo honored to share this moment with you.

<div>Soy Genesis, y mi pareja Virginia y yo estamos construyendo una vida junta en Nueva York. Nos emociona muchísimo compartir con ustedes nuestro camino hacia la maternidad—aunque, siendo sinceras, hablar habiertamente de esta manera es un gran paso para nosotras.

<div>Tenemos 7 años juntas—creando una vida con intención, risas y mucho amor. Desde el principio, siempre estuvo ese deseo de formar una familia, esperando su momento. Poco a poco fuimos ahorrando lo que podíamos en nuestro “fondo del bebé” para acercarnos a ese sueño. Cuando empezamos el proceso de FIV, me dijeron que tenía baja reserva ovárica, y eso hizo que todo se volviera más urgente. No fue fácil de asimilar, pero nos empujó a tomar decisiones con más intención y enfoque.

<div>Decidimos formar nuestra familia a través de FIV recíproca, un proceso en el que cada una aporta sus óvulos y la otra lleva el embarazo, con uno o dos años de diferencia entre cada uno. Para nosotras, es la forma más íntima y especial de traer a nuestrxs hijxs al mundo.

<div>Iniciamos nuestro proceso con una clínica de fertilidad el año pasado, después de encontrar una doctora con la que nos sentimos seguras. Desde entonces, hemos pasado por mucha preparación médica, sesiones de terapia obligatorias, trámites legales y la selección y compra de viales de esperma donado.

<div>Recientemente, supimos que necesitaré una cirugía para aumentar nuestras probabilidades de éxito. Con el diagnóstico de baja reserva ovárica, tengo menos óvulos viables y puede que necesitemos varias rondas de extracción para lograr un embrión sano.
