<div>Our friend <strong><em>John Formann</em></strong> is once again facing a heartbreaking and difficult battle. He and his wife, Lisa, are dealing with the devastating news that the <strong><em>cancer is back</em></strong>. This time it is in his mouth. Surgery is scheduled in a few weeks — it’s <strong><em>urgent</em></strong> and cannot wait.

<div>Last year, John was diagnosed with a large throat tumor, <strong><em>squamous cell carcinoma</em></strong>. He underwent surgery that removed his vocal cords, and now speaks with the help of a <strong><em>voice prosthesis</em>.</strong>

<div><strong><em>John</em></strong> is the kind of person who would <strong><em>never ask for help</em></strong> himself, he’s selfless, caring, and always there for others. That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe.

<div>Despite the brutal recovery from both <strong><em>surgery and radiation therapy</em></strong>, in 2024, John,<em> </em><strong><em>true to form</em>, </strong>pushed through and returned to <strong><em>full-time work </em></strong>earlier this year<strong><em>.</em></strong> He had taken redundancy from his 17-year job at <strong><em>Beaurepaires in Wynnum </em></strong>to support himself and his family during treatment, never expecting the <strong><em>fight would continue</em></strong>.

<div><strong><em>Unfortunately,</em></strong> John hasn’t been at his new job long enough to accrue any <strong><em>leave</em></strong>, which means he and Lisa are in a <strong><em>very vulnerable financial position.</em></strong> They face a tough road ahead, and we are asking for a '<em>hand'</em> from their <strong><em>community to help them focus on recovery. </em></strong>
