<div>For more than 20 years, Michael Filby has dedicated himself to a remarkable act of community

<div>service. Now 80 years old, Michael still goes out every single week in his old 4WD, collecting
</div>
<div>rubbish along the South Western Highway to protect our forests, wildlife and landscapes.
</div>
<div>Over decades of this quiet, relentless work, Michael has personally removed hundreds of tons of
</div>
<div>litter — bottles, broken glass, metal, plastic and dangerous debris that would otherwise harm
</div>
<div>wildlife and scar one of the most scenic routes in Western Australia. He has done almost all of this
</div>
<div>at his own expense, paying for fuel, equipment and vehicle maintenance simply because he
</div>
<div>cares. During this period, he has covered the equivalent of three circumnavigations of the
</div>
<div>planet in road-cleaning trips along this 250 km stretch. Thanks to Michael’s dedication, this
</div>
<div>section of highway is known by many as the cleanest highway in Australia.
