<div>This week, during a routine 22 week ultrasound, we discovered that our baby's development was incompatible with life.

<div>We are devastated. There are no words to describe this feeling of loss - of a child, of our dreams and hopes for her future, of our daughter's hope and wish to be an older sibling. After a long journey through IVF to even be able to conceive, we are grieving this journey as we hope to pick up the pieces and move forward.

<div>Currently, we write this from Chicago, where Amanda will be undergoing surgery on Monday at the University of Chicago to ensure her health moving forward. After that, we will spend some time back in Des Moines resting and recuperating after the surgery and this experience.
