<div><strong>What is Unforgotten?</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>Unforgotten is a charity co-founded by <strong>Álvaro Sampedro and María Castrillo</strong>, created to support the education and wellbeing of deaf children in low-income contexts.
</div>

</div>
<div>The project began after Álvaro spent several months volunteering at <strong>Nyabihu School for the Deaf</strong> in rural Rwanda. During that time, it became clear that the school wasn’t just lacking resources — it was facing long-term sustainability challenges.

<div><strong>Summer Camp – A Shared Success</strong>
</div>

<div>The <strong>Summer Camp</strong> was a powerful example of what collaboration can look like when it’s done right.
</div>

<div>Unforgotten worked closely with <strong>Nyabihu School for the Deaf</strong>, alongside teachers and staff, to create a space where students could <strong>learn, express themselves, and enjoy</strong> their holidays, while teachers explored new ways of working with the resources available.
</div>

</div>
<div>Thanks to your donations on GoFundMe, <strong>£1,665.83</strong> was allocated to food for students and teachers during the 3 week camp, transport for students, a small compensation for teachers, cooks, and school staff who worked during their holidays and internet access to support activities.
</div>

<div><strong> Understanding the Bigger Picture</strong>

<div>To make responsible decisions, we commissioned <strong>two additional reports</strong> from the school to better understand long-term challenges:

</li>
</ul>
<div>Over the past five years, only <strong>14 out of 54 students (25.9%)</strong> passed the <strong>National Exam at the end of Primary 6</strong>. Passing this exam is a critical requirement for students to access <strong>secondary school</strong>, meaning that the majority of deaf students are currently unable to continue their education beyond primary level.

<div><strong>64% of graduates (60 out of 93)</strong> are currently unemployed or not studying.

<div>Until now, many classes have had <strong>only one book per subject</strong>, only for the teacher. These new books will allow children to <strong>follow lessons properly, study independently, and support teachers in delivering stronger, more structured classes.</strong>

<div>We are currently gathering technical information to <strong>assess the quality of the water</strong> supply reaching the school.

<div>At the same time, we are seeking organisations or companies that can support or carry out a proper <strong>water quality analysis</strong>, which will allow us to take informed, sustainable action.

<div><strong> Warm &amp; Waterproof Clothes</strong>
</div>
<div>The school is located in a cold, mountainous area. During the rainy season, students face harsh conditions.
</div>
<div>We are actively looking for <strong>local Rwandan suppliers</strong> who can provide <strong>durable, warm, and waterproof clothing</strong> in the quantities required — prioritising quality, sustainability, and local sourcing.

<div>El <strong>Campamento de Verano</strong> fue un claro ejemplo de cómo puede ser la colaboración cuando se hace bien.
